Project Description
CNN explores how Macao’s masters are keeping the traditions alive in this digital era. Macao’s most skilled artisans are featured in this series. Each feature illustrates the artisans at work and glimpse the dexterity that goes into Macao’s finest creations. The show focuses on 4 stories: the architecture, use of bamboo, hand painted tiles, and Macao’s famous egg tarts.
The Brand Elements
Logo
The logo was inspired by the Portuguese-style hand-made signs that can be spotted around Macao. The territory was under Portuguese control until 1999, when it became a Chinese autonomous region, which is why it reflects a mix of cultural influences. The flourishes are used throughout the project as patterns.
Colors
Each color is used to highlight a different story. All the colors have an earthy feel to represent the craftsmanship of the masters.
Patterns
The flourished patterns come from the Portuguese blue painted tiles. They are used to transition between each story in the open as well to create a unified piece.
